2005 - Like a Star

The "Like a Star" single was originally released in Britain in November 2005. It was released in a limited edition format and only 3000 copies were made, making the CD a much sought after item by fans. It was sent out to test the water ahead of a proper release, and after a critically acclaimed performance on Later...With Jools Holland it instantly sold out. Written entirely by Corinne herself, and produced by Steve Chrisanthou, "Like a Star" won much critical praise and was championed by Radio 1 DJ's Colin & Edith. The rich soulfulness of the vocals and the laid back smooth production introduced the world to Corinne Bailey Rae and such is the popularity of the song, it is being lined up to be re-released in October 2006 according to her official mailing list. It has also been confirmed that the re-release will have a new music video.

2006 - Put Your Records On

The song was co-written by Corinne Bailey Rae, John Beck, and Steve Chrisanthou, and produced by Steve Chrisanthou. It crashed into the charts at a very impressive number two and was only kept off the top spot by Madonna's "Sorry." The carefree, chilled out style of both the song and the video – set in South Africa – caught people's imagination and created hype around Corinne that a British urban music artist hasn't enjoyed since Craig David and Ms. Dynamite's emergence in 2000 and 2002 respectively. "Put Your Records On" is currently enjoying a wealth of critical and commercial acclaim which has helped rocket the album to number one in its first week of release. The track has topped a wealth of charts including the UK Top 40 Downloads and the UK Top 40 R&B Singles; it was also a smash hit on radio and is currently at number two on the UK Top 50 Airplay. As of March 1, 2006, Corinne Bailey Rae became only the second female solo act to top the UK Top 40 Downloads in history. The song earned two 2007 Grammy Award nominations: "Record of the Year" and "Song of the Year".
